CADENAS Interface

We are pleased to announce a new project collaboration with CADENAS, the largest external library of 3D standard components available on the market - CADENAS PARTsolutions has over 500 library suppliers, covering thousands of components for multiple market sectors. The integration of CADENAS PARTsolutions into VISI17 will enable users to shorten design times by providing access to readily available standard components for their mould / die assemblies.

Two levels of integration are available. The first level will be access to on-line catalogues via the CADENAS PARTserver portal. Catalogues are continually updated and can be downloaded directly from the internet in a number of CAD formats including a new native VISI *.CVF format. The second level is a direct plug-in for VISI and requires a licensed installation of PARTsolutions on the host machine. In this case, the selected library component is immediately available and loaded directly into the current CAD session.

3D Strip Enhancements

Parametric Strip - After the punch definition it is now possible to modify strip layout parameters (step, strip width), and the system will automatically update the previously constructed punch geometry and rebuild the strip. This extra functionality will provide the user with the freedom to simulate live changes to the strip layout.

Strip Simulation - Simulation redesign has made it possible to gain major speed increases during strip simulation. One test case has seen a time reduction from multiple hours to just 2 minutes.

Multi-Step forming - Blank On Custom Binder

A new 'Blank on custom binder' tool has been developed that enables the user to create a multi-step process for deep drawing components by defining a die block (the binder) onto which it is possible to map the edges and surfaces of the part.

Flange on curves - A new function to unfold cylindrical flanges.

Linear Flange - The unfolded face(s) are now cylindrical and (if appropriate) planar rather than a single Nurbs face. This provides advantages for the plot view when detailing, and also during data exchange with other CADCAM systems.

A new cylindrical deep drawing tool based on a revolved profile has been developed that allows the user to create cylindrical drawn parts in a series of steps, including the strip and part suspenders.

Result Display

Result Display

A new visualisation tool has been developed that allows the user to analyse in real time the engineering / stress attributes of the part within the 3D strip. For example, areas that may split or wrinkle due to excessive material thinning / thickening.

Material Management

The material database has been extended to include cylindrical drawing and the GUI has been simplified with the materials divided into families.

Nesting

The nesting calculation is based on a multi-threading process, so it is possible to interrupt or pause the operation in progress. It is now also possible to specify a central fastening method during nesting calculations.
