Thermoset & Rubber Moulding
A new module to simulate the thermosetting materials moulding process. It includes all the polymer materials that irreversibly cure. This application is capable of simulating the behaviour of thermosetting and rubber during the filling and the curing stage of the injection moulding cycle.
The presence of chemical reaction and the irreversible property changes such as resin conversion and resin viscosity makes the simulation of thermosetting material a very complex task. The Thermoset & Rubber solution is able to simulate the flow front and the distribution of the pressure, temperature, velocity and degree of cure throughout the filled domain at any time. |

Overmoulding
This can refer to either two shot injection moulding or insert moulding. In the former the first material is completely injected before the second one is injected over the first. In the latter the plastic is injected over a metal insert. The new VISI Flow module manages the simulation of both forms of moulding.
With regards to insert moulding, the filling analysis takes into consideration the different temperatures between the insert and the mould plates; the shape analysis defines the contact surfaces as constraints and also shows the internal stresses that can be generated by the inability of the resin to relax along the insert. |

HR Fill
This is a two part application that addresses the selection of an optimal hot runners product line based on the preliminary data available without the need to simulate the part injection., and then provides an analysis and a set of results (isochrones, temperature and pressure drops, residence time) specific to the plastics flow inside the hot runners system. |

Model Thickness Analysis
A new feature under the Analysis menu that enables you to calculate and display the thickness of a CAD model using two user-defined algorithms. One based on the largest sphere that can be placed within the model and a second algorithm based on shooting a ray through the model along the triangle normal.
This tool can be used to quickly identify thick and thin areas of the model that helps validate the model integrity and highlight any areas that may cause internal voids, surface sink marks, unpredictable shrink rates and longer cycle times. |
Rapid Heat Cycle Moulding
The use of steam assistance or pressurised water during the moulding process is becoming more common to generate a high temperature mould tool and to avoid welding lines. VISI now includes thermal analysis within the filling stage to consider the rapid increase and decrease of the mould temperature within the same moulding cycle. |
Integrated Data Input
The Flow module is now virtually fully integrated within the VISI interface. All model preparation tools and data input use the standard VISI interface. Only the visualisation of results remains in an external interface. |
Remesher
The remesher now allows you to set different facet sizes on different parts of the same model to give optimal results. |
Analysis Browser
VISI 17 supports multiple analyses of the same model in the same WKF, and allows you to switch between them at will. |
