How to add a custom plate into a mould assembly tree and maintain associativty ?
This tip is useful for VISI Mould users who want to add plates to a mould bolster assembly where the cavities / cores are machined directly into the solid (no inserts), and would like to keep the assembly structure alive for associative editing and keep it linked with standard catalogue elements.
1. The first step is to create the mould bolster set as per normal and then accept the tool using the green tick icon.

1. Confirm the initial tool build using the green tick icon
2. The next step is to unlink the plate that will be replaced by your custom plate. To do this, select the relevant plate in the mould tree structure that will become redundant, right click, and select the "Detach Plate" option from the dynamic menu. You will be asked to confirm this command and the plate reference will be displayed RED in the assembly tree.

2. Detach the plate from the assembly structure
3. Using the layer system, hide the plate that has been detached from the tree structure and make sure your new 'custom' plate is visible and in the correct position.
It is now necessary to add the new plate back into the assembly structure. To do this, select the relevant plate position in the tree structure, right click, and select the "Redefine" option from the dynamic menu. After redefining the new plate, the system will ask you to select the moving faces. This will be the face that can move if the thickness of the plate or their assembly height is modified. If the custom plate has been correctly added to the tree structure, the plate reference will again be displayed using black text.

3. Redefine the custom plate to add the geometry back into the assembly structure
4. With the custom plates added and the tree structure aligned to the geometry, it is possible to add the standard catalogue components using the traditional method. Please note however that it may be necessary to confirm the Z direction for catalogue components affected by the new plate changes.
