Spring back

With VISI 19, we have introduced three new dedicated routines to automate Springback compensation on a CAD model. These new options are:

  • Springback by Measured Machine - Adjusting the CAD model for Springback based on the output from a CMM Machine. This routine allows the user to import the point data output from a CMM machine via a reverse post processor. If required, the operator is then able to define local areas of the model to modify and then apply the springback calculation. This option also allows the operator to define an additional percentage to over compensate for the springback deformation.

  • Springback by FEA Result - Adjusting the CAD model for Springback based on the striking result generated by a third party FEA simulation program. This routine allows the operator to import the Nastran files produced by the simulation, apply a skimming routine to reduce point clutter and apply the model change. This option also allows the operator to define an additional percentage to over compensate for the springback deformation.

  • Springback by sections - Dynamic calculation of the “binder” curves and the potential Springback preloading based upon user defined parameters. This routine allows the operator to define the number of wireframe sections to create through the bending zone and based on a compensation angle, automatically apply the springback deformation.

The Misumi Progress catalogue has been greatly enhanced for VISI19 with approximately 95 new Standard Element Builders added (45 New assemblies and 50 New single elements). We now manage over 500 Elements in the Progress Misumi. These include :

  • Guiding & guide sets
  • Punches & pilots
  • Dies
  • Spacers
  • Springs
  • Lifting elements

Cylindrical Drawing algorithm

The cylindrical drawing algorithm has been enhanced to work with more complex profiles that could not be managed previously. From within the deep drawing dialog, it is also possible to set the Punch and Die Radius Increments to control the different radii increment for each step.

Punch By Grindinh Wheel

Punches By Grinding Wheel

This unique command allows the operator to model special punches that are machined with a grinding wheel. This single function can be a huge time saver during punch preparation with a 3D result in just a few clicks. The punch can be ground on a single side or all four sides.

This special punch is often used by toolmakers who specialise in high precision, micro parts such as electrical connectors and switches.
